In YiaYia Aspasia’s kitchen,
elevator music calms
layers of onions,
years of chopping
and fingers stained red and green.
In the drainer— star-shaped specks of carrots,
asparagus, and peas.
The ready pot boils,
one antique among many.
In my kitchen,Grimm’s Fairy Tale.
Witches in the oven,
children eating house and home
and soiling sinks.
Six girls, one kitchenone bathroom,
they call it a suite.
Twelve rolls of toilet paper
line the window that can’t open
(even for steam).

I feel sorry for this generation. Not because of the cartoons, but because I have the sneaking suspicion that someone who works on Adventure Time loved Sailor Moon. I mean just by the dress and the fact that Serena who’s real name was Usagi and had attributes to a bunny.
It’s sounds too much of a coincidence and this obscure reference just blew me away.
